The race continues!

June 4, 2008
MUGELLO - GRAN PREMIO D’ITALIA ALICE - 125GP

You arrive at the paddock, conduct an inspection, check the quality of the asphalt, look up to check if the weather forecasts were right. You then watch the first practice runs and check the telemetric data pouring into the computer. Everything seems to be in place.

The Paioli forks live up to their performance record. The Paioli of Minerbio technicians look about hopefully: the last ones, from Vallelunga, Le Mans, Shangai and Monza worked well. It was obvious that the product could speak for itself. The drivers and the teams are there. “We're here, too!” is what the technicians think but do not say. But everyone knows all the same: the results of a race depend on an infinite number of circumstances, many of which are uncontrollable despite the greatest of efforts.

But in this arena, happenstance and probability cannot be accepted, whether or not statistics seem to say they should! Are we or are we not technicians? Children born of mathematical precision, almost repelled by the relativity that surrounds us and tests or nerves.

Our nerves make fun of us. They are the elastic and resistant strings that give the leg its power to walk and absorb shock. Women's legs are beautiful. There is a woman passing by right now dressed in a miniskirt that proves just how much importance she places on those legs. Fantastic! That is definitely a breathtaking suspension system!

The first practice runs did not go so well! It is necessary to intervene on the cycle element, making modifications in the motorcycle's comprehensive settings and the geometry.
The data gathered from the warm up session confirms the positive outcome of the modifications, so expectations and emotional investment are running high.

Andrea Iannone (I.C. Team Aprilia) is going like the wind! He is in first place. The data confirms that the USD37-125GP gives him just the right mixture of flexibility and thrust.
Iannone is having a hard time on the straight sections of the track! His motor is not cooperating. The others are running much faster!

Today did not go so well, but is just another rung on the ladder of experience and knowledge gathered in this infinite puzzle of technology.
Until next time!

Andrea Iannone
