New 48 mm Upside Down. Paioli Meccanica!
...for the Super Motard World Championship, S1 and S2 categories.
Its ace is “Contender”!
Radial caliper coupling!
...a novelty that puts us in the foreground.
Paioli Meccanica presents USD 48 Contender for the Super Motard.
It is one of the “Special Products” department’s usual difficult births.
As you know, the front suspension is one of the most important mechanical parts of a motorcycle! It makes you feel safe, in control of the situation to lets your warrior instincts loose.
It becomes even more important if you want to put yourself to the test in a Super Motard race.
Here the features of the front suspension are really important!
Put yourself in the shoes of a designer: which tube diameter, which length, which stroke, which materials, which bracket, which coupling for the brake caliper...which?
A tube with a particularly large diameter has a great effect! However, it is heavier and makes the driving position stiff!
This is just a slightly provocative way of saying that, in the choices that count, the aesthetic and communicative aspect may be in contrast with the best technical solution.
This is why the technicians of Paioli Meccanica reduce the length of the fork (35 mm shorter than the normal length) as well as of the stroke to give you a winning tool. In this way we draw nearer to the features of fast rather than enduro motorcycles.
Unimportant nonsense? No, fundamental choices!
See, for example, the large radial braking system that makes the structure of the fork flex more. The motorcycle must be flexible and not too stiff!
It is necessary to calibrate diameters, concentricity, roughness, choose the material of the tubes and of the cribbings!
To obtain the best possible tube “smoothness” 5 lapping passages are required, followed by a hard anodising treatment and addition lapping...
But, due to the fact that looks are also important, the fork must have both technologically correct contents and a pleasant appearance. After all, a motorcyclist is a beauty-lover!
Those who like to ride a motorcycle love freedom, speed, the wind, the landscape, the challenge...
The beauty of motion is a motorcycle!
Therefore, the personnel of the “Special Products” department, after having solved the basic efficiency parameters, let themselves go in details that may seem to be purely “aesthetic” but have highly respectable contents.
Take for example the choice of the “radial” brake caliper. Beautiful! There is no doubt about it.
It is obtained from solid Ergal and anodised Silver. A piece that alone makes you love mechanics. Amongst the folds of this evocative shape there is a corrective mechanical detail.
What about the possibility of independently adjusting the extension and compressor of each Leg?
Take a look at the features listed blow:
